Helicopter Emergency Medical Services

Our Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) is your provider of fully equipped twin-engine helicopters in VFR or IFR conditions. We ensure that those in need can be located, recovered and transported to the best health care facility for the injury sustained. We offer a unique and cost-effective Helicopter Emergency Medical Service that is based in Galliano, LA, providing dedicated air ambulances staffed with certified paramedics.

Our Helicopter Emergency Medical Services are always available on an ad hoc basis for customers in need. However, we also offer the CHI Aviation HEMS Offshore Cooperative. It’s a shared-service plan, allowing members the benefits of a corporate HEMS program at greatly reduced cost. The program ensures the readiness and availability of our HEMS aircraft when needed. The quality of service and care that we provide positions us as the market leader in HEMS.

We maintain specialized rescue technicians capable of high-angle rope rescue in confined space for entrant rescue program. CHI Aviation is the first in the Gulf of Mexico to offer this industrial standby/response as part of our 24/7, rescue helicopter service.

We have teamed with Acadian Ambulance and Air Med Services to provide experienced Nationally Registered Flight Paramedics on-board our offshore, emergency response aircraft, in addition to:

  • 24/7 dedicated physician available to our offshore and air medical operation.
  • 24/7 dedicated flight following with certified, emergency medical dispatchers providing pre-arrival care instructions. We can also coordinate aviation logistics, weather, hospitals, medical control and many other auxiliary services for our flight teams.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support
  • Critical Care Transport.

Search and Rescue Services

We are leading the nation with all-weather, day/night Search and Rescue (SAR) capabilities. Our SAR teams employ the latest technologies for recovery during day, night, VFR or IFR conditions, so those in need can be located, recovered and transported to the best health care facilities.

But our SAR is more than technology; it is the integration of over 250 cumulative years of experience in life saving operations. Our pursuit of safety, commitment to quality and adherence to rigorous training standards will ensure we are ready when you call—24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our SAR offers unmatched capability. Our medical personnel are nationally accredited, and trained in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, capable of Rapid Sequence Induction, Chemical Extrication, employing Continuous Positive Airway Pressure, and Critical Care Transport. Our rescue personnel are also trained to operate in confined space, Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health environments, employ SCUBA gear and are certified rescue swimmers.
